MIOT Children’s Cardiac Care Centre is headed by Dr.
Robert Coelho who has performed more than 3000 surgeries
on babies and children. Dr. Coelho has performed complex
cardiac surgeries in patients not only from India but
also from countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri
Lanka, Seychelles, Nepal, Africa and the Middle East.

Facilities
The outpatient
department with a team of dedicated paediatric cardiologists
makes the initial assessment with the advanced Live 3-D
echocardiographic imaging tools including Fetal
echocardiography. The atmosphere is child friendly and
designed to keep the child and the parent relaxed.
Intensive Care Unit
The intensive care unit is equipped with 9 beds in a
spacious area, supported by Laminar Air Flow systems and
near zero bacteria air-conditioning. Management of pulmonary
hypertension is facilitated by Nitric Oxide
ventilation. Strict aseptic precautions,
|
1:1 nurse – patient ratio and dedicated respiratory therapists are
the major benefits of this ICU. The newer generation
ventilators allow ventilation of even preterm babies’
without injury to lungs and modern syringe pumps ensure
low volume infusion with precision. The current trend in
cardiac surgery is for fast tracking with early weaning
from the ventilator, early mobilization with shorter ICU
stay in order to minimize the trauma of surgery and
longer separation from parents.

operation suites with the specially designed laminar airflow
systems allow surgery in a near bacteria free environment
that matches international standards. The new monitoring
equipments, lights, large operation suite space, heart lung
machines, all serve to enable surgery in even the tiniest
preterm baby with good results. An excellent blood bank
service with availability of fractionated blood components
